"The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) is alarmed at the unprofessional manner in which Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy chose to take exception with a column written by AWSM member Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman. Gundy has the right to express his opinion, just as Carlson has the right to express hers. But his decision to air his objections in the form of a personal attack shows a lack of respect for all journalists."

Count me as unsurprised to hear that the Association for Women in Sports Media is defending Carson's racist remarks.
Nothing like a little poking fun at a chicken eating black man to get some favoritism from a gender victim group.
Hello Ms. Carlson,
I've the response regarding Mike Gundy's press conference. Some have called it a tirade. I would refer to it as a strong concern on his part.
Ms. Carlson said in the video response to his press conference she wanted to know what the inaccuracies were in the article she wrote. I also saw that she did not get a response to the inquiry. That would make some continue on with their quest to defend their creative right as a journalist.
I heard Mike Gundy's reference to Ms. Carlson's article. He (Mike Gundy) tried to relate it to an everyday parent raising his child (paraphrase). Now what I'm about to say is totally my take on it but, (long extended pause) God forgive me if I am wrong, just maybe that reference was just a thought to let you know all the off-field events DID NOT have any influence on the decision the coaches made to replace Bobby Reid. Maybe it was his attempt to dissuade Ms. Carlson from reading into something that has no bearing on the situation and should be kept separate and personal.
Getting to the heart of the matter, maybe those little excerpts MS.Carlson found here and there to form her opinion and form a conclusion was totally unrelated (maybe even be inaccurate to what was trying to be communicated by Mr. Gundy). I am not trying to speak for him or draw any inaccurate conclusion. I have to be careful not to do that. To draw from those inferences that may not be truth.
I believe the parents of Bobby Reid had a reason they raised him the way they did. It is their business. And again coach Gundy said that is wasn't because of any situation such as feeding chicken to their kid. Caring parents are affectionate and don't stop being parents once their kids move out of the house as adults. They are people that watched their child grow, know their tendencies and react to what they know about these young adults. I can have an opinion or even question the actions of parents but how can I interfere? I shouldn’t. Maybe the parent’s love drove him further; maybe he would have never been a college quarterback (but that’s just my opinion). I don’t know, I WON’T SPECULATE it would be irresponsible. Coach Gundy said it had no bearing on the decision to replace Bobby Reid, that’s the central point I see given at the press conference.
Ms. Carlson should rethink her article and instead of making a stance for what she believes is the truth should listen to the exhortation from a COLLEGE football coach. It had nothing to do with his character and everything to do with the GAME of football at the amateur level.
